New solar project in Italy

Electrawinds is starting on the construction of a large-scale sun project in Udine, North Italy.  This concerns a sun roof of 892 kWp which will be installed on 2 buildings of furniture company Dierre Legno. By making this new investment, Electrawinds emphasises the ambition of further expanding operations in Italy. A few solar and wind energy specialists have recently joined the local team as reinforcement.

Drastic water consumption savings through Evaporator

Electrawinds has started up a new and innovative project to process water by distilling water out of the Bruges-Ostend canal. The Evaporator uses the hot cooling water of the motors which comes into contact with canal water.

Drastic savings are being made on water consumption, thanks to the Evaporator: the three biomass plants in Ostend consume up to 600 m3 water per day.

Berlare Wind Farm officially opened

On Friday, 4 May 2012, Mayor Katja Gabriëls officially opened the Berlare wind farm. The project of 4 wind turbines along the E17 motorway is the second project that Electrawinds has realised in East Flanders.

Electrawinds organised a wind farm visit for the neighbours on the eve of the official opening. As many as 850 people visited it.

900 visitors at the Open Plassendale Day

The Open Plassendale Day was also a great success. The tri-annual public event in the inner port of Ostend offers a unique opportunity of looking inside dozens of companies which have recently been established in the new industrial area of Plassendale in Ostend. Electrawinds participated together with Greenpower, the most recent biomass plant that has been in operation since the end of 2010.

Company in top shape

35 employees participated in the famous Dwars Door Brugge ("Straight through Bruges") street run. Electrawinds presents itself as a company supporting and encouraging an athletic lifestyle. The group spirit is as important as the sports challenge. Electrawinds therefore regards sports events as an incentive boosting coordination within the organisation. On 16 June 2012 no fewer than 44 employees will participate in the Bruges Triathlon.
